~Proofreading work is to be paid up front.

I do all billing via PayPal.
I use the review format in Microsoft Word. It makes it easy for you to go from one correction or comment to the next, and accept or reject easily. I also like to sometimes add comments about the story, whether I loved it, am mad that you just killed someone, or you had me cracking up, things like that.
Proofreading~ I read through the manuscript once, making corrections and comments. Upon completion, I will email the completed document back to you.
Editing~ I edit the book and make comments, then send it back for author to make corrections, answer questions, or discuss. Then author will send doc back to me for a second, and final edit to make sure it is all pretty and polished. After the final edit is complete and you the author is happy with how it looks, I will send out the final portion of the bill via PayPal.
I like to build a relationship with the authors I work with and with the characters and books that I am editing. It is a personal relationship in my opinion, not just me making corrections to a “document” you sent me. Authors pour their hearts and souls into their books, and I want to treat that with respect. I will not change your voice, if something sounds wonky, I will simply make a note and let you know my thoughts. This book is your baby, your voice, and I am only here to bring out the best of your story, so readers can be enveloped by the magic of the tale. Little things like errors and typos should never stand in the way of readers falling in love with their next favorite read! Because books are an escape everyone should enjoy!
